Seven people were injured as two fires caused about 102500 dollars in damage. A Dynes Pohlman Lumber yard blaze destroyed half the yard with a 100000 dollar loss and a mother rescued her baby from a garage chicken house and a store residence blaze at Thirtieth and Elmira. Dr. Herman G. Morgan city health officer approved an ordinance requiring milk served for drinking in restaurants to be delivered in its original container. I L Miller state food and drug commissioner had recommended the provision. Morgan noted steps already taken to safeguard the milk supply and plans for tuberculin tests for dairy herds.
The naval dirigible Shenandoah landed safely at the Lakehurst air field at 8:30 a.m. after remaining aloft more than twenty four hours. It conducted a 10 mile flight over Scranton Pennsylvania and Binghamton New York on Thursday but could not land at its home station due to bad weather. It then cruised six hours above the air field.
Times Special reports in Evansville Indiana that James Jackson a 24 year old Black man was arraigned in city court on an attack charge involving Mrs Anna Lawrence of Greenwood farmers wife Mrs Lawrence is described as in critical condition following the alleged assault.
After three hours of deliberation the State highway commission did not appoint Harvey G. Shafer former vice president Nordyke Marmon Company as chief of the division of equipment. Governor Branch recommended Shafer after discussions with automotive engineers about the vacancy created by George N. Bartley resignation. Bartley’s departure followed a report exposing extravagance and possible overpayment of 50000 dollars to O F Schlensker.

Prosecutor William H. Remy will seek a court order from Special Judge John W. Holtzman to confiscate and destroy more than 700 gallons of wine and several hundred quarts of beer found at contractor Howard C. Strathmann’s home on Central Avenue in a liquor raid last year. Strathmann was fined $250 for liquor law violations. the liquor was sealed and remained at the residence by Lieut. Cox and his squad.
