War Memorial Commission directs removal of a vessel or artifact from property near the plaza. The decision affects churches and associated groups as the commission enforces a property reallocation and memorial display policy.
Architects Walker Weeks say removal within four years offers best results though churches may stay indefinitely without altering the general plan. State memorial commission approved plans locating the main building between the current church sites with an alternative that would have kept churches and moved the building elsewhere rejected.
The city board of safety reorganizes the accident bureau after a city council ordinance, appointing Patrolman Jack O Neel Harry Smith and Mary Moore to posts. Miss Rachel Bray exits to Rikhoffs stenographer role as Ed Glenn and Frank Owens depart. The board seeks 15500 dollars to fill a fire department salary gap from abolishing substitute ranks and buys a Studebaker touring car for police booze squads.
The public service commission released a formal order dismissing its investigation into Indiana Bell Telephone Company rates and service in the Indianapolis area. Mr and Mrs Earl J Dunn of Minneapolis died in a Yellowstone National Park canyon when a back maneuver on a narrow road caused their car to slide between two trees and plunge hundreds of feet. The bodies were recovered.
Mrs Gladys Valentine West Cam burn Hogan aged 28 of Battle Creek was sentenced to not more than five years and less than six months after pleading guilty to negligent homicide. Her car struck and killed Mrs Theodora Mantas and she fled the scene.
In Ont July 15 two boys warned a girl to hold on as they swam for shore from a capsized canoe. The girl was rescued after drifting seventy two hours. The bodies of the youths were not recovered.

Martha Richardson six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Ora Richardson near Tipton was rushed from the home to Dr C H McCaskey in the American Central Life Building after swallowing a safety pin Saturday morning. The pin lodged near her fifth rib and was removed during an operation at Methodist Hospital Saturday night. She was brought home Monday night.
Police report many drifters flee the city as poolrooms are cleaned. John Wernsing, a south side merchant policeman, told Field Lieutenant Cliff Richter he saw at least twenty men hop freight trains during the night.
A hearing was held by Examiner Arthur R. Mackley of the Interstate Commerce Commission at the Federal Building in Hoopeston Ill. The Indiana Coal Traffic Bureau opposed reducing tonless rates from Indiana. Hoopeston consumers asked a cut to 1.50 a ton from 1.92.
President Coolidge will be the real manager of his re election campaign with William H Butler of Massachusetts as chief assistant. An advisory board led by C Bascom Slemp will handle real management as a shifting body with no fixed membership.
Clarence Bridgeman aged 36 of Muncie Indiana was to be transported to Indianapolis to stand before Commissioner Howard Young on charges of embezzling and stealing letters from the mails. A warrant followed a bill of information filed by Post Office Inspector A B Kelley.
Sheriff George Snider arrested William Sechrist after a chase on S Harding Street Monday night. Sechrist, a farmer from R R D, allegedly sped the Marmon to sixty mph while officers sought a liquor load from Chicago. no liquor was found.
Police recovered a stolen auto a woman's hat and a wrench as evidence in the assault on Bessie Robinson of 401 West Walnut Street by two men. The gasoline tank was empty suggesting quick foot escape. The car owned by Robert King of 2954 Central Avenue had been reported stolen from Meridian and Pearl Streets Monday evening.

Dave Harmon of 6528 Illinois Street was arrested on assault and battery. Police say his car struck a motorcycle driven by John Wilson of 2323 Yan des Street at Nineteenth Street and Columbia Avenue injuring Wilson in the leg.

In Hagerstown Maryland July 15 Judge Bower sentenced Lewis Long to fifteen lashes on the bare back for beating his wife. It marked the first use of the whipping post for a wife beater in thirty years.
Indianapolis building activity climbed to 368 permits valued at 1 277 862 during the week ending July 12, up from 258 permits and 378 118 in the prior week. Frances F. Hamilton, building commissioner, noted licensing gains for master and maintenance electricians and reported two smoke department complaints and sixty six inspections last week.
