A truck delivering Armour & Co. meat to Riley Hospital for Children was robbed of sixty pounds of ham and bacon valued at 7.50. The driver Joseph Riley reported the theft during a delivery at the hospital.
An Indianapolis court case shows a couple awaiting a two month delay before a divorce decision. Judge Earl R. Cox notes both spouses seek separation while neglecting their six year old child. Mrs Smith cites beating and absence as grounds while Smith admits considering remarriage. The judge will study why they remain so willing.
Representatives of Columbia Gas of New York led by Paul Clapp met with Mayor Reginald H. Sullivan and Henry L. Dithmer of Citizens' Gas to discuss Columbia's bid to sell natural gas locally. Clapp urged purchase as a boon to manufacturers, but no decision due to Citizens' unresolved status.

He recalled failing to recognize himself and authorities planned to ID him from the address book.
Three men were crushed to death when three tons of earth caved in at South St Paul while they were cleaning a ravine to create a thoroughfare. The victims were John Yost aged 20, single, John S Kirchner aged 39, married, and an unidentified man. Thirty-five workers looked on as frozen gravel buried the men who had been hired by the city.
In Washington Indiana two burglars entered Vollmer Wholesale House to steal cigarets and fled after a volley of shots. Carl Vollmer and police officer Henry Burkhardt were forced to exit via a rear door before the bandits escaped. Vollmer sustained a right arm wound during the exchange.
Dr. W. N. Kellogg of the Indiana University psychology faculty will teach a class in psychology of children and animals in the I U extension division during the second semester starting February 6. He gained national attention for raising a monkey with his own baby in a Yale laboratory in Florida. Four other psychology and sociology courses were announced: Chauncey M. Loutitt will teach clinical psychology at Riley Hospital Saturday mornings. J. R. Kantor will teach social psychology and personality development Thursday nights. Frank H. Streightoff will lead sociology of the city Monday nights. and W. S. Bittner will teach principles of sociology Wednesday nights.
Murray Humphries, 32, Chicago’s self-styled business man and new Public Enemy No 1, proclaims he is persecuted by rivals and civic groups. He argues his 9-cent milk program lowered prices, denies gang ties, and cites his legal, tax, and business records as proof of innocence amid a LaSalle Street courtroom scene.
Indianapolis reports its first snow of 1933 as rain cooled to a wet snowfall in the forenoon. The cold snap dropped ten degrees and left no lasting trace on downtown streets as a forecasted low near 30 degrees arrives tonight and colder conditions expected Saturday. Rose Michalski, 43, a mother of three, was killed in Hammond Indiana after stepping from the path of one B&O train into another while hurrying to her job as a housemaid. Her husband recently lost his job and she supported the family.
Dr. Alva C. Lurber a 62 year old Muncie physician was found dead on his office couch by his son Frederick. A bottle of poison lay nearby and a note stated he was unbearably worried and that his work was done. Survivors include two other sons A C Lurber Jr Washington and John an Indiana University medical student.
The Times promotes Opportunity Day on Saturday with thirty six pages of merchant offers. Shoppers are urged to plan a store by store shopping tour to maximize discounts and buy needed items at substantially reduced prices.
The Washington Post reports Senator Carter Glass has accepted the treasury post in the Roosevelt cabinet, though Glass later denied it. Senator Thomas Walsh is said to have accepted the attorney general post, while Roosevelt also seeks Senator Hiram Johnson for a senior interior post or other roles.

Putnam County Taxpayers association sends a resolution to the legislature urging abolition of multiple offices including county and township assessors state police and probation officers. It backs the 1 50 tax levy limit and county consolidations and proposes local handling of teacher retirement and a repeal or reduction of the teacher minimum wage law.
The appropriations committee reported a $1,002,890,779 bill to the House for independent offices. It allocates $966,838,634 for veterans and adds $18,039,634 to the Veterans Bureau, while cutting other activities to meet 1934 needs across a dozen bureaus and commissions.
