Angered pupil stabs Lancaster teacher after dispute
Hiram Battie a nine year old student in a Lancaster public school drew a knife and stabbed Miss Dorothy V Wiley after a remonstration over an arithmetic exam. In Burbank California Rey Stear a former detective shot his wife to death during the night and then killed himself. He sent his small son to a neighbor with a note asking care for the boy and not to let him see what his father had done. Neighbors found the two bodies after receiving the note.
