Michigan City residents plan a strong lobby to repeal the city manager law now in effect. Senator Claude S Steele and other Indiana lawmakers face a flood of letters opposing repeal while local leaders push to maintain the four year old commission manager system. Misener of the Michigan City Evening News says the city has enjoyed freedom from political bickering, and supports keeping the form. Representatives Hull Hanna and Summy will lead the House fight against repeal, backed by Indianapolis Republican leaders. He argues a four to one local vote favors the manager form and urges killing the effort in committee.
