Pardon Granted to French Editor Daudet
Paris December 27 United Press reports the government will pardon Leon Daudet the monarchist author and publicist now living in exile in Brussels. Premier Andre Tardieu wins a confidence vote 335 to 266 while Communists criticize the decision and insist Daudet is punished for political offenses. Daudet defends the amnesty saying his crime was a breach of common law. He has continued to influence monarchist circles with secret trips to France.
