City to Annex Airport Tract and Build Highway
The city plans to annex a 1000 acre tract south of Ben Davis to support a municipal airport. A main thoroughfare to the landing field will also be annexed. Council meets Monday in special session to adopt a plat and estimates from city engineer A H Moore. A $680000 bond issue is planned for purchase and improvement of the site. The Morris street route is favored for a shorter safer link to Plainfield avenue and High School road, avoiding a costly overhead bridge on the National road.

Hope remained for Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hyde believed missing after a Grand Canyon river trip. Rivermen prepared a boat at Diamond Creek to aid the hunt after sighting of their empty scow. The Hydes set out on a honeymoon voyage expected to reach Needles, California, by December 11. They have not been heard from since November 15.

Butler Purdue Game Fatal Heart Attack Claims Fan
A 35 year old West Lafayette man John Vander ploeg collapsed and died of a heart attack after the first half of a Butler Purdue basketball game at the Butler university field house Friday night. He remained inside the building and died before removal. Surviving are his widow and one child.

Ex Judge Joseph H. Shea Dies at 65 in Indiana
Joseph Hooker Shea, 65, former Indiana appellate judge and former ambassador to Chile, died at Methodist hospital at 3 a m due to embolism. A Democrat, he practiced law since 1922 with sister Angel Shea, served as prosecuting attorney, state senator, circuit judge, and on the Indiana University board. He was born July 24, 1863, in Lexington, Indiana.

Murder of Carmi teacher shocks small town

Investigation of conditions at the county poor farm will be undertaken by the January term county grand jury under orders from Criminal Court Judge James A. Collins. He denied a request for a special grand jury following accusations some food produced at the farm was not for inmates. Crossing Watchman III Woman Hurt in Crash
