Woman driver held after city street accident
Charles B. Anderson, 39, of 1635 North Alabama Street, rests at the city hospital with a fractured right ankle and head and body bruises after being struck by a car driven by Mrs Verlie Hinman, 36, of 837 South Worth Street, as he alighted from a street car near Twenty Sixth Street and College Avenue. Hinman is charged with failure to stop for a street car unloading passengers. Charles Lawrence, 17, of 214 East Walnut Street, suffered cuts to the head and arms when his car collided with a vehicle driven by Edward Smith, 56, of 1207 West Thirty Fourth Street at Washington Boulevard and Fifty Seventh Street. Lawrence was taken home by passing motorists. Eight other occupants of the two cars were uninjured. A Times Special report from Lafayette, Ind. notes Purdue University will host research on illuminating gas welding conducted by H. H. Lurie, a Chicago consulting engineer, under the direction of the utilities research commission of Chicago which will cover Lurie’s salary and expenses.

The famed endurance performer Shipwreck Kelly arrives in the city under The Times auspices for a 104 hour 13 minute stand atop a metal disk above the New Denison Hotel. He will begin Tuesday at 9 am and end Saturday at 1 13 pm, braving weather and sleep deprivation. Kelly links his feats to the number 13, sharing a lifelong pattern from his May 13 1893 birth to early flagpole work and wartime service.

KILLED IN CRASH NEAR FLATROCK
Donald Evens 19 of Indianapolis died when the car driven by Rosa mond Neu of Shelbyville overturned en route to a dance. Also hurt were Miss Montayne and Charles Yater. Neu was uninjured. The crash happened a mile and a half west of Flatrock as Porter’s Camp awaited the family in Shelbyville Indiana.

Two daylight bandits robbed the Kroger grocery and meat market at 3537 N Capitol Ave, escaping with over $126 after locking four inside including a woman customer in the refrigerator. They looted cash from the meat and grocery registers then fled in a blue green Overland car parked on Thirty Sixth Street. Police noted an Ohio license earlier, now Indiana.
