Brewers Down Indians In Contested Tilt On Late Play

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Cleveland Indians 7 to 4 in a game marked by a disputed third inning call by umpire Freeman that provoked protests from Indians catcher Robertson and manager Mann. Griffins tag play at third was ruled safe by Freeman, fueling controversy and a field benching of Robertson. Brewers piled on three runs after the disputed moment as Mann struggled with erratic defense from Cleveland. Dinty Gearin quieted Indians with four runs allowed in the decisive inning as Buck Schemanske started for Bushmen with Robertson behind the plate. Sicking and Miller each collected three hits to pace their teams in a high-scoring spring tune-up.
