Evansville, Aug 6 John L. Gaulich president of a local automobile sales company was drowned when his car plunged from a ferry dock into the Ohio River. The body was recovered by Chauncey Driskey and Walter Troyer, fishermen who witnessed the dive. Gaulich was on his way to Henderson, Kentucky. The ferry had not yet begun operations.
Martin J. Starr of Physical Culture will broadcast the national search to locate America's most perfectly proportioned girl. The Times and MacFadden Publications select Indianapolis’ representative with tempting prizes, plus a $1000 award to the mother for her story. Broadcast on WEAF and NBC at 9 30 Indianapolis time.
George Kent 42 confesses to killing Llewellyn Kent 74 after a quarrel over missing eggs from a chicken coop. The case notes long family history of violence and strong men, with Kent held without bail as the Windham County court weighs the charges.

Huber C. Moore files in superior court a divorce petition alleging his wife Ollie R. Moore threatened to kill him after he drove his ACESEAT machine across streetcar tracks and, in a separate incident, asked him to kill himself. Married December 24, 1909 they separated March 15, 1929 and Moore seeks custody of their nine year old son Jack.
Washington August 6 Republicans on the finance committee approved the house tariff bill schedules maintaining higher duties on silk and rayon and their by products as part of the overall tariff package.
United Press reports in ENO Nevada divorce proceedings show Walter S. Gifford, 44, president of the American Telephone and Telegraph Co., losing family life to industrial ascent. Mrs Florence Pittman Gifford cites his neglect as AT&T grew, leaving children Walter and Richard to her custody while schooling continues.
Fred T. Gladden confirmed a $1,200 salary hike approved by nine township trustees raising his pay to $4,800, the maximum for the post. County Auditor Harry Dunn corroborated the increase in the school budget. Gladden, elected June 3, takes office August 16, and denounced talk of a mourner’s meeting at a retirement dinner.
Gale Pike a 30 year old railroad freight conductor from Shelbyville Indiana Southeastern was struck near Oliver and Kentucky avenues when his head hit a garbage wagon as he leaned from a traction car. He was taken to City Hospital for treatment.

In East Chicago Indiana Aug 6 a formal inquiry was started into the death of Ross Forsythe 36 whose body was recovered from the Indiana Harbor canal after being in the water two weeks. A notebook found in the clothing identified him.
