The Master Bakers association plans a semi annual meeting next Wednesday at Madison Indiana with officers and members from various areas gathering to depart on a special Pennsylvania railway carriage to Madison. Efforts are underway to move next year’s gathering to Indianapolis including a factory machinery exhibition and tools for bakers. Meanwhile Austin case updates show Red Austin facing charges in multiple states after a new trial was granted by the supreme court.
A criminal judge prepares instructions for a grand jury to investigate chief of police Robert Metzger over an alleged assault on John H Farrington, amid a $10,000 civil suit accusing Metzger of malicious arrest and undue influence. The case stems from an August 5 arrest after a patrolman said Farrington appeared intoxicated.
J Ralph Bloucher will succeed Hat Field Morgan as assistant to C D Bays the Indianapolis general agent of the Missouri Pacific St Louis Iron Mountain Southern and allied roads in the heats. Mr Bloucher comes from the L E W chief engineer's office and was formerly with S C Pickens legal favorite of the Pennsylvania lines at this point Morgan takes a position Oct 16 with the Missouri Pacific in the downtown ticket office at St Louis.
Mrs D. Boyd travels Tuesday toward Ogden with plans to return from Ogden around October 18. She will leave Chicago friends along the route. Accompanying is Mrs. William McQuall who will spend the winter in Indianapolis with Mr. and Mrs. Roy.
A locket with Mr. F. W. Lewis’s photo was returned to the owner after a note asked to return it to Fuel Drive Woodrum Place. The crime scene was at 21 West Drive Woodruff Place where a porch climber entered and stole valuables. The parcel arrived at the police station Saturday after being mailed Friday afternoon from the city.
Grading and land reshaping for a New York Central rail system industrial city south east of Indianapolis proceed rapidly. Seventy to eighty machines including steam excavators and rock drills work with 38 teams and 2% horsepower engines moving 20000 yards of dirt before November 2. Wells reach depths to supply shop water as two miles of streets and cement walks will be laid. The project could spark an industrial city of about 50000 people on farm land.
M M Hachelder attorney for Joseph Cook and others filed an amended complaint in district court to block the city from building a city hall and coliseum on the market house site. The suit argues the property was never deeded to the city by the state and that the grand was dedicated for market use only. Judge Henry Clay Allen will consider whether the amended complaint adequately answers City Attorney Matson’s motion to sharpen the original filing.
Leu ie waciatuech, a Hungarian, is charged with murder in the Dayton Sawyer case. He was brought into police court Saturday and the case was continued for a week as police widen their investigation. Detectives believe he may not be the only one involved and a suspect who implicated others has gone to Chicago. a detective will be sent for him.
Detectives Walter Warrenburg and Jack O Conter charged with assault and robbery of James Beally and George Crawford near Capriiolave after a track incident early Friday. They were fined in police court on Saturday October 4.
After President Palma resigns and moderate Congressmen refuse to meet, Cuba is left without a government. Secretary Taft assumes charge to restore peace and stabilize the island.
Secretary Taft proclaims a provisional military government in Havana under United States authority after Cubans fail to resolve the crisis. Marines guard the treasury while the Cuban government effectively dissolves, with US forces to restore order and guide elections.
Secretary Taft cabled for immediate occupation force to Cuba. Acting Secretary Olver ordered the first expedition at Newport News with 800 men including infantry units from Fort D. A. Russell Fort Sheridan and Fort Ethan Allen, plus cavalry and artillery battalions and engineers to Washington barracks.
The assembly dissolved and ordered Tamorraw L200 marines to be housed at Camp Columbia outside the city, amid the regime’s read back of President Palma wan read.

The Republican party plans a special car ride to Shelbyville Indiana for a Hemenway meeting on Monday night. Departure is from the terminal station at an unspecified time with a reduced fare, and a return trip is planned after the meeting. An additional Grifitheyalrbantar gathering is sought for Tomlinson Hall on an October night, with hall access contingent on speaker arrangements and Marion county faculty committee involvement.
