Sammuels claimed Johnson incited the crime, but the court accepted the verdict, and the sentence followed his later admission after attempting to escape from custody.
Dee Shipman, a notorious suspect, is hospitalized after being shot while fleeing Patrolmen Wallace and Lancaster. He has long resisted arrest on assault and battery charges with four warrants out. The escape led to a violent struggle in which Shipman attacked Detective Kinney and Detective Innes, injuring none seriously. The case proceeds in police court. John Pugh, deemed the county’s most dangerous insane inmate, escaped Sunday while patients were being moved to the dining room. Mrs Mary Taylor Mackenzie, wife of Arthur Stanley Mackenzie, died Sunday morning at 1140 Sc Washington St home. Born to the Taylors, she graduated from the girls classical school and Bryn Mawr. She married in 1895 and was an instructor of physics at Bryn Mawr. Survived by husband and infant daughter. Funeral Tuesday afternoon from the home Stead, burial private.

In Indianapolis a family quarrel at a restaurant ended with a knife fight. A man and his wife argued after she drank, resulting in injuries and a severed finger. Police arrested both parties, the husband for assault and battery and the wife for assault and battery after she pleaded guilty and paid fines. A social gathering of ebony-hued mates and females at Isaac Humphrey’s rooms behind Pat Ward’s saloon was dispersed by Patrolemen Hart and Asch. Mrs. Nora Stanton, formerly Nora Hatton of Indianapolis, alleges desertion by Harold Stanton after a romance begun near Vicksburg. She says she was 18 at marriage, bore a child, later learned he was a crook, and that her son vanished on Sept. 3. She traveled from Atlanta to Mississippi and Indianapolis seeking the child and aid.
William Jones a sanitary officer with the city health department died at his sister's home, 370 Cornell Ave., at 9:36 Monday morning after a long struggle with consumption. He was 44 years old and had recently become a member of the Red Men. His mother, who had not seen him since age four, visited recently and then returned to Cleveland. A chaotic section follows with fragmented and unclear lines about related incidents and misprinted names.
