In M ishawa ka Indiana Alvin Ludwig, 23, killed his young wife by slashing her throat and setting her body on fire with gasoline before taking his own life. Two small children survived. In Vincennes a man shot and killed his wife mid meal after an argument. he then fled.
In Cranberry North Carolina a heated inquiry over a close beauty contest vote sparked a federal row. Dan Potter was shot in the back and Samuel Boone in the arm while Boone tried to mediate. Potter is dying and Boone is seriously injured as the final vote remained unannounced.

Mrs Thomas Livey has failed to deliver the alleged slayers of 12 year old Fred Miller. Police and juvenile court officers seek her children Buy White aged 10 and Zelina White aged 11, who were accused of kiting. The mother promised to produce them next court day but has not. The boy Fred Miller died after a blow to the head. Officals accuse Mrs Livey of abducting the children. she denies the charge and says the last time she saw them was in Minnesota. The family left town with little money, and the police suspect relatives or friends. Mrs Livey resides at 2103 Hovey Street.
