Two passenger trains collided near Union Station in the early Friday hours, injuring none. The Chicago to station Pullman and a Cleveland outbound engine derailed a section of track, with repairs taking most of the morning to restore rails and rebolting ties.
Indiana Democrats debate Thomas Taggart's bid for national chairmanship while he competes for mayor and studies the field. W H Messenger recalls in 1882 visiting Muncie and losing a bill book with contracts. A boy returns the book, but the boy’s mother fears theft until the boy proves the dollar came honestly. The tale ends with the boy’s action and lesson.

Indiana soldiers leave Indianapolis at 3 25 p m Friday over the Big Four. The party includes 15 men invited for forthcoming military ceremonies at Fort Riley.
Justice Lockman operates a scheme to close suspected wine rooms by renting two rooms adjoining his court at Washington and Delaware streets over the Fan saloon. He announced plans to rent the rooms to desirable tenants and keep the keys.

Myer works for the Northern Traction Co. and Dailey is the daughter of noted horseman Marcus Dailey.

Indiana State Federation of Labor at Evansville unanimously endorsed the law to end contract labor at Michigan City prison and urged similar action for Jeffersonville. The convention urged a reform goal over wage competition, criticized Gov. Durbin for alleged noncompliance, and recommended appointing a labor representative to prison boards.
