Move to Revoke Charter of C. C. Road in Indiana Suit
Governor Marshall files suit in Cass county circuit court seeking a receiver for Chesapeake & Ohio railway of Indiana and revocation of its charter. The action alleges nonresidents on the board, stock-watering scheme, and $40 million mortgage bonds per mile tied to the Cincinnati to Chicago line through Richmond Muncie Hammond. The governor argues the new corporation is a blind to exploit state law and calls for statutory reform to curb stock and bond watering.
