A man calling himself Herman Stoltz, working for Indianapolis suppliers, is positively identified as Thomas Brown, an ex convict. Frederick W. Kel Jer of Lawrenceville Illinois, recognized Brown’s method and Brown at the jail. Keller recalls Brown served time for forgery in Menard Illinois. Brown allegedly used forged checks to obtain goods from several firms and hoped to borrow against large purchases. A preliminary hearing is set for Tuesday.
