Kansas Nine Mile Railroad Becomes Local Jest

Topeka Kansas is tired of running a nine mile railroad the Kansas Southern Gulf. Farmers in Pottawatomie county seek a twenty mile connecting line and may sell the nine mile road to them. The road is kept alive by court rulings and odd duties with a single man serving as engineer, conductor, and more. The line faces high costs, but receivers and local residents keep it operational amid jokes and attempts to finance upgrades. Watered by delays, the venture prompts locals to consider building a larger line themselves if rails and materials can be funded.
