The Sun reports conflicting accounts of a Friday early morning fight near the state fair grounds. Police say nothing substantial happened while witnesses describe a group of about 20 colored men involved in a knife attack, with a wounded man said to be moved away before an ambulance arrived.
Forecast for Indiannapolis and vicinity for the four hours ending midnight September 19 calls for cloudy skies with occasional rain. Frigid Friday night and Saturday are expected with continued showers.
Receiver Hawkins says a small dividend may be paid soon once funds are gathered and court cases end favorably this term. He cannot specify amounts or dates, but believes depositors will receive something within a few months. The list of names and illnesses follows. Marriage licenses issued to Joseph B. Milton Barber a Haughville resident and D and W employee was killed by a streetcar at the Ohio and West streets crossing. He walked into the path as the car neared, his left limbs severed and skull possibly fractured. Barber had visited a saloon shortly before and left with no clear motive or intoxication observed.

The case against Chas W Green, accused of stealing 1400 from United States Express, reconvened as witnesses testified to his good character. Green, an express employee for 16 years, claimed intoxication affected memory and described taking money from sealed sacks on a train before discarding items and wandering through St Louis and Cincinnati en route back to Indianapolis.
The Olive Branch synod proposes a Lutheran youth alliance in Indiana and Kentucky. A meeting in Indianapolis on Thursday established the Tuuther League with J. M. Alegler as president and EF Grenoble as secretary. Officers include J A M Ziegler Louisvile president and others. delegates elected for Chicago convention.
The State liquor league convened Thursday at Hotel Eaglish. It condemned the Nicholson law as a travesty on justice and said moral education should remain with churches and schools, not law. Next meeting is planned for September in Anderson. Officers named include President George Teepe Andersen, Vice President Philip Zapf Indianapolis, Treasurer J Wh Gruenert Indianapolis, Secretary J T Callen Indianapolis. Delegates to the national convention are J F Callen and Philip Apt of Indianapolis and H Klein of Hammond.
The Board of Health was notified Friday that water at School House No 35 on Madison Avenue is very bad. Teachers refuse to drink it and scholars must go without. Last spring several typhoid cases were reported nearby, and the bad water is blamed as the cause.
James S. Norton a well known orator and author dies in Chicago. Henry D. Lloyd refuses to accept the populist nomination for lieutenant governor of Illinois. George O Farrall of Virginia bars use of Robert E Lee battery pieces for salute to Bryan at Petersburg visit.
Robert Simms was arrested Friday afternoon by two Meredith police after a chase through the city. He resides at 20 Latayerteest and works as a porter at Hurts' drug store. Four or five bottles of whisky were found on his person, and Mawdlurty alleges Simms had been stealing whisky from the store for several months.
Tesneis Coffin, a convicted bank wrecker, is said to arrive in Indianapolis Monday. He will appear before Judge Baker of the White States court for sentencing as friends await potential clemency from President Cleveland.

Mason McFarren of South Calvary church faced police court in Friday proceedings. He was found guilty of unlawful living with Ida Mays and of a vicious assault last Sunday, receiving fines and short jail terms. Witnesses from his church defended his character, while Judge Cox warned him about calling him Judge Stubbs.
Board of works signs agreement with Sun Vapor Light Co. for 200 street lamps at 14.50 per lamp per year paid monthly. Extension to 300 lamps possible and 2nd shift to operate continuously. Lights to be placed citywide as needed amid earlier lighting replacements.
City Board of Works on Friday adopted a resolution to pave gravel and brick walks on Glarvey street from Ohio to New York street. The St John Society of St Marys Church plans a grand concert in St Marys Hall Sunday evening to aid the church. Mayor Taggart left for New York City Friday afternoon to attend the ceremony presenting the silver service to the battleship Indiana. Maj James M Healy and wife with the governor staff travel Sunday to Staten Island for the presentation of the silver service to the Indiana next Monday.
