Coroner Blackwell ruled Mrs Elizabeth Laurence died by own action after an investigation into her death found in a bathtub at the Linden hotel Rose Mae Laurence the daughter and a Christian science practitioner said the coroner affirmed the finding Descriptions from witnesses noted despondency and possible mental distress with admissions of requests for morphine by the deceased.

Gen Warren Keifer disputes Col Roosevelt's call to fortify the Panama Canal arguing it would violate the 1901 Hay-Paunceforte treaty. Keifer, back from Brussels as a member of the American delegation, notes the amendment to the treaty was not ratified by Britain and the original pact remains in force.

Henry Spangler, a Bills & Boettcher hotel butcher, was thrown from a wagon when a frightened horse ran into the alley and into the police station wagon room.
