Church quarrel over Sabbath blocks progress and drives followers away

A fiery critique argues that church leaders overreach on Sabbath observance and moral policing, while a national fair on Sunday should be allowed. The piece asserts broad public sentiment favors open Sunday worship and business, condemns bigotry, and condemns narrow religious control as hindering progress. It notes editorials about labor, printing strikes, political opinions, and several local incidents including worker firings and a post office robbery, reflecting a turbulent city press era.
