Police investigate a Sunday night dynamiting campaign that damaged four buildings tied to contractor Albert Von Spreckelsen and prompted fear for his family. Six children were moved to a relative’s home while the parents stayed to guard their residence at 1229 East Michigan Street.
Leslie Lovett a waiter at 632 Georgia Street tried to obtain $1 for a diamond ring for Miss Pearl Whitinger who is ill with typhoid fever. He returned without the ring or money claiming he pawned it to a saloon keeper and lost the funds. John Rigsby joined Lovett in pursuit. Lovett later admitted loss. Patrolman Todd arrested Lovett on grand larceny charges at the boarding house.
On George J. Marott's filing a circuit court issued a temporary restraining order preventing L E W Railway from removing 4 pipeline along its right of way. Marott claims a contract allowed the line to be laid on the property. the pipeline runs from Blackford County through Eaton to Muncie supplying gas to factories and was bought from United Box Board and Paper Company.
Gertrude Russell sues Oscar Brann alleging malicious prosecution. She claims Brann caused her arrest and imprisonment on a provocation charge, and says she was acquitted in Squire McKinney's court.
Special Judge Durcan overruled Charles Fike’s motion for a new trial on Tuesday and sentenced him to two to 14 years in prison for trying to kill his wife by cutting her throat. The wife recovered and prosecuted him.
Detectives hunt for a thief who stole 500 from the safe in the office of Walter H. Wilson city comptroller at Chicago city hall. Likely an employee suspect, with Deputy Comptroller Lewis E. Gosselin discovering the loss this morning during a routine check.
In probate court The Fidelity Trust Company was named guardian of Richard Woak 81 after daughter Mrs Rebecca Hayden requested guardianship. He receives a 14 monthly government pension and cannot work, with concerns about his spending on alcohol.
County Attorney John C. Ruckelshaus filed a remonstrance against the Indianapolis Park Board over assessments for the Parkway and Boulevard system. The county contends the grounds are county owned and not liable for the assessment, and argues the assessment is excessive and the Park Board lacks jurisdiction.
At J P Morgan & Co the firm states there is no truth to Chicago reports that Morgan purchased the Walsh railroads. The firm is not involved in any syndicate for acquiring these properties.
Madrid reports General Weyler, infamous for the siege actions during the island war, has been elevated to commander in chief of the Spanish troops in Catalonia. King Alfongo approved the appointment today.

The New York Court of Appeals ruled without dissent that Harry K Thaw is legally committed to Matteawan State Hospital and must remain there affirming the appellate division ruling based on Justice Richard Jenks's opinions.
Six persons are reported killed in a large railroad yard wreck in Madison Wisconsin this afternoon. The crash occurred in the yards of the Northwestern railroad.
At Cavalry cemetery in New York after a funeral for Senator Patrick H. McCarren a crowd of about 4000 surged toward the gates causing a panic. Seven women were injured including Miss McConnaughby who was crushed by a falling marble headstone and suffered a broken arm and internal injuries.
Judge James A. Pritchard missed criminal court Tuesday because he was sick with a cold. Court officials announced he would not preside and that proceedings would be rescheduled or reassigned as needed.
Prince Ito Japan's elder statesman was killed at Harbin Manchuria while meeting Russian finance minister Kokovsoff to discuss Manchurian railroad interests. The attack wounded the Japanese consul general and a railroad official. a Korean assassin was captured and claimed motive to avenge his country.
A jury in Muncie Indiana found Dr Melson A Ross guilty of murdering Daniel R Linder an interurban conductor who sought ten cents excess fare. Ross sentenced to life imprisonment. He had been married three times with two divorces and claimed to be single on the stand.
Three boys John Castleman George Miller and Harry Phillip engaged in a Halloween frolic last Saturday night by tearing up a fence owned by Phillip H Kile city fireman at 100 Cornell avenue. They were arrested and appeared in juvenile court Tuesday with their cases continued as the boys claimed they misunderstood Halloween timing.
Miss Lulie Wemmer a 15 year old girl defied her mother to meet a lover in the country. She was taken from Stone's Crossing to Indianapolis to buy goods charged to her family. In juvenile court the case was continued for a thorough investigation. She will be held at the detention home until trial. Her father died two weeks ago and the mother cried in court. The girl is charged with delinquency.
Rico Rocco the ousted head of the Black Hand society was hanged at Lawrence County jail in New Castle Pa after 10:30 this morning. He spoke briefly before the drop saying he did not see the killings and expected to go to Jesus. He insisted he was not involved and forgave officials.
