Street car wreck kills Arthur Staats in Brightwood collision
A Brightwood bound street car collided with an L E W Monon switch engine at Thirteenth street and Cornell avenue Friday night. Arthur Staats 20 S Beville ave died from skull fractures. Eaton Barnes and several others were injured with varying degrees of trauma. Drs. Stewart treated victims as ambulances and emergency crews cleared the wreck, witnesses described a gruesome scene as trains blocked tracks and engineers hurried to assist.
