The Keystone gas and oil company prepares to sink seven or eight more wells at Broad Ripple. Work starts once sites are located. A glycerine can remains near the Murphy McKnight well bottom as they test an explosive drop. A leak experiment is planned around Monday or Tuesday. Oil pumped for days with little change. a deeper drill might have yielded a better flow. The third well north of the first two may reach oil or gas rock by Tuesday evening.

Francis H. Lancaster a pioneer of Marion county died at his home 18 Ludlow ave Sunday morning of heart dropsy. Born in Kentucky 1825 he moved to Marion county at age nine and lived in Indianapolis 16 years as a blacksmith when health allowed. He married Adaline Snyder in 1847. A Methodist, he will be buried from Ludlow avenue at 9 Tuesday morning with Rev. G W Troyer officiating. He leaves a widow and ten married children.

S F Galloway dies at Capitol Ave home
Samuel F. Galloway, 699 N Capitol Ave, died suddenly of heart failure on Sunday after years of poor health linked to wartime illness. Born Philadelphia July 1844, he served in the Ninety seventh Pennsylvania regiment, later moved to Pennington Indiana, then Indianapolis in fur and mercantile trades. Survived by wife Alice Henry and son Walter, an artist on the New York World. Funeral plans not yet announced.

Missing funds charge against Indianapolis company captain
A. L. Stevenson, captain of an Indianapolis colored company, received 8247 on Sept. 12 to pay the men after the Sept. 9 encampment, but was accused of diverting 70.85 to fines. Robbins claimed no shielding and noted Stevenson may vote for McKinley. Nan Elliott offered 40 to cover the shortage. Stevenson is reportedly in the city.
