Mrs. Rose Lembo of Pierson flats on N Delaware St reported a theft of $1400, saved over 10 to 12 years, hidden in an old necktie with large denomination bills. Police and detectives pursued leads but found no suspect, noting the thief likely knew her habits. Lembo is mother-in-law of J Pinto, a prominent commission merchant.
James M. Berryhill guardian of George Rhodius asks for new trials challenging $12,000 in attorney fees awarded in the Rhodius guardianship matter. The Marion county prosecutor plans to sue delinquent dog owners after treasurer Ensley certified 1500 names. Trustee West warned he holds more names and will hand them to Hooton, who will collect a 35 fee per suit plus 10 percent on collections. Hooton may appoint special prosecutors to handle cases and expects about 7000 names total. Delinquents who pay before suit will incur no fees.
John Knight, a young colored porter at Lucius Diamond Co on Illinois near Washington, was arrested after a locket was found on him. Police recovered 12 watches and numerous jewelry pieces, with value estimated at $16, and pawn tickets tied to Knight. His case goes to the grand jury.

Mrs. James O'Donnell walking on St Joseph street Tuesday afternoon was robbed by John H. Hickman a colored man who grabbed her pocketbook and fled. C L Watson chased and, aided by bicyclists, cornered him. Officers Schlangen and Radamacher arrested the suspect who was bound over to the grand jury after court. Hickman claimed penitentiary time.
Bicycle officers Stewart and Mullin responded to 1606 N Pennsylvania where men were seen prowling a house. They met D T Smith who reported the incident but investigators found no trace of the suspects.
Frank Middleton was fined five dollars and costs by Judge Whallon in police court on Wednesday after his arrest for visiting a gambling house.
