A London dispatch says 2,000 Boers died in a battle near Ladysmith Natal as reported by The World special from London. The claim notes heavy losses on the Boer side in the ongoing contest.
Reports say two armored trains were destroyed by the Boers near Mafeking and Taung stations. A dynamite train was destroyed, the engine saved, and several soldiers may be prisoners. Refugee train accident at Three Sisters killed two and wounded many.
