A group of young people hear a friend recount a long tale of a boarding house owned by Mrs J on a North Side street. The aunt reports cellar noises, hidden compartments, moving closets, apparitions, a haunted bed, and a phantom by the bedside that spooks visitors and tenants, with doors slamming and a rocking chair that moves on its own.
Miss Mary Johnson and Victor C. Randall married at the bride’s home 69 North Alabama avenue. The gown was white muslin de soie over white satin. Several other marriages occurred Wednesday evening with brides in white silk, taffeta, or satin and pearl or lace trimmings, including Miss Pearl Kindelberger and J Robert Ryan and Miss Mary Williams and Frank Copeland Lingenfelter, all solemnized by Rev J A Milburn and at home or local churches. Col Samuel I Gray and Mrs Anna B Morrison also wed at high noon Wednesday.

Detroit report says Julius Lichtenberg a school inspector under indictment for bribe receipt shot himself Thursday morning. He is expected to die, and his case was scheduled to be heard that day.
In DextER Missouri on October 11 a boiler blast at Hodge's saw mill killed two Johnson brothers and a man named Williamson. Pearl Carter, former Ada Webster's resort guest and fiancée of Biarry Gottlieb Traub, pleads to see his body at Stregelo Son Irvin's establishment but is barred. Traub, who died by his own hand, was to be married Monday. the body rests in a vault at Crown Hill cemetery with no access for non-relatives.
A demurrer was filed Thursday in the mandamus suit of Detective Thornton against Supt. Goss of the public schools. The demurrer contends section 4496 requires separate school houses for colored pupils and that Thornton has not shown noncompliance. The relator’s child had not shown readiness for noncolored classes. The case stems from the principal at school No. 4 denying attendance to Thornton’s daughter, with Goss siding with the principal. Judge Winters heard the argument with Chas A Dryer representing the school board and Keasling & Hugg for Thornton.
