A Ladoga posse led by the town marshal scours fields near Ladoga seeking Jesse Coe, the alleged Indianapolis murder suspect. Citizens form search parties as Coe, described by detectives, allegedly shot at Marshal Corbin Godtibar and killed a dog during a rapid escape.
The Republican state executive committee will meet at the state central committee headquarters in the Claypool hotel at 8 o'clock Wednesday night for general discussion of state conditions. Leaders say the party is confident for a strong election, though stay-at-home sentiment and factionalism among Democrats complicate forecasts. State Chairman Guodefelt and O'Brien oversee visits and plans as speakers bureau maneuvers, with Gov. Cummins on tour and Hemenway dates set around October. Henry's rally speech pamphlets are being printed for wide distribution.
John R. Walsh of Chicago, president of the Southern Indiana Coal Company, reports coal moving via the Cloverleaf at about 49 cars per day. He notes no agreement with Central Indiana road, coal now traveling west to Westport and over the Michigan division of the Big Four via Anderson and Munele, pending the Big Four keeping Indianapolis and Terre Haute shored up. The Southern Indiana company provides daily hauling statements.

George Williams, a negro, pleads not guilty in criminal court to murder charges tied to the shooting of Patrolmen Chas Russell and Edward Petricord. He and Jesse Coe, also implicated, were arraigned after lengthy testimony and a signed police statement detailing a daylong drinking spree and the incident at Jackson's house.
Mysterious blaze at John W. White’s grocery on 22 Yandes Street at 2 AM Wednesday, traced to mice and matches. The fire, under the counter, burned with a large headway before detection. Building is a two story frame owned by Mrs. Samuel Besner.
A Kenosha dispatch reports a domestic scandal involving Edward Conklin, a former lawyer turned coachman for Harry Bear in Twin Lakes. Mrs. Chala Murphy of Woodstock obtained a divorce, and Conklin was arraigned on a statutory charge, admitting guilt and seeking leniency to honor Mrs Murphy.
The Rev Frederick Ro Stearna was installed as pastor at Home Presbyterian Church Heder and Thirty-firate ald Tuesday night. The installation sermon was delivered by Rev Owen Davie Odell of Second Presbyterian Church. The Rev Frank Mallard of Memorial Church gave the address to the congregation. The installation services were led by Rev M L Haines of the new First Presbyterian Church who spoke of the minister’s duty to his church and its workers. He later named Rev Mr Stearns Pastor of the same church. Members pledged their support after the ceremony.
NORFOLK VA Oct 8 The schooner Twilight capsized last night claiming six lives while one crewman was rescued. Reports say the vessel foundered during a storm near the harbor with the remaining crew unaccounted at press time.
Washington October 3 Senator Foraker proposed Eugene Lewis for the vacant United States marshal position in Cincinnati following the dismissal of Marshal S vivir Fagin. The recommendation was made to fill the post promptly as of yesterday.
Reports from Washington describe rising tensions over disarmament of insurgents. Two thousand rebels at Guantanamo refuse to surrender, with Marines rushing in to reinforce. President Roosevelt holds talks with Judge Magoon and contemplates sending him to Cuba as governor amid reshuffled territorial leadership.
In a morning raid at Austin Masseys general store, burglars blew open the post office safe and stole 20 dollars in cash and stamps valued at 90 dollars. Massey, the postmaster, heard the disturbance, confronted the burglars, and they fired at him before escaping with the loot.
