A lightning bolt struck a bicycle hanging on the back porch of L. K Brown at 43 N. Delaware Street, then spread to a room on the second floor causing smoke and fire. The blaze damaged the house and destroyed $250 worth of furniture and draperies. the incident occurred during Thursday night’s storm.

L Dassett of this city recalls a Lexington visit where a stranger hinted at a plot to abduct ex governor Taylor and return him to Kentucky. The man described as 25 to 30, heavily built, with a small moustache, showed a paper the reader could not decipher. Dossett believes the note hinted at a kidnapping plan, though he never saw Taylor and doubts the governor could be moved from Indianapolis.

James Bathart aged 60 a bricklayer was found dead Friday morning in a squalid room at 455 W Washington St by his roommate James Madden and BM of 20 W Washington. Bleyelemen Trimpe and Lowa arrived, ambulance removed the body to the morgue. Occupants said he drank heavily for three months, police later learned he hailed from Warsaw Ind where he owned land and had a sister, daughter and son. His body to be held pending word from relatives.
A Friday riot in Berlin saw striking omnibus employees clash with scab crews and passengers. The mobs overturned vehicles and attacked scab workers, drawing in police who faced attacks with iron bars and stones. Dozens were injured in the several hour clash.
