The headless body of Sam Burgess a B and O conductor from Flora Illinois was found on the Vincennes Indiana tracks. He had taken ill recently and was brought to Vincennes for treatment his mind became deranged and he threw himself before a moving train. He leaves a widow and children.
Reports from Oneissa describe severe storms across a district of Russia causing about 500 deaths as victims were drowned or frozen. The region faces widespread distress with many homes damaged and resources strained.
