George Kenzel Dies at 68 in West Indianapolis
George Kenzel aged 68 died Thursday night at his daughter Emma Richardson’s home in West Indianapolis. Born in Germany, he moved to America at 12 and lived in Indianapolis most of his life. An original member of the old volunteer fire department, he suffered from Bright's disease and rheumatism. He is survived by his daughter and son George Kenzel of St. Louis. Frederick William Schulmeyer an early German settler of Indianapolis died at 4:89 Thursday at his home at the corner of Alabama and St Mary streets from senility after a long life of work. He came to the city in 1853 from Darmstadt Prussia. He lit street lamps for the Indianapolis Gas Company, then ran a grocery business until illness forced him to retire to his sons. He leaves a widow Margaret and eight children Henry Louis William Anna Schulmeyer and others married to Bauer Beck and Borst all residents of Indianapolis. Funeral at 2 pm Sunday from his residence.
