City leader denounces clergymen who label Indianapolis immoral and challenges them to firsthand city investigations. He asserts Indianapolis is the most moral city in the state and offers to escort them with officers to verify conditions, dismissing critics as misinformed or deceitful.
Bruce Brewer, a colored boy, pleaded guilty in police court to burglarizing Enos's Drug Store on N. West St. He told the judge he wanted to be a real burglar, while the judge commented that he looked like a good boy. Brewer was bound over to the grand jury under a $1,000 bond.
Rev Frank O Ballard of Memorial Presbyterian argues at a Christian ministers meeting that tithing discharges a debt owed to the Lord rather than a donation to the church. He asserts raffles and fairs should not raise church revenues. Only ten ministers attended the session Monday morning.
The trial of Dr Joseph Alexander indicted for grave robbery will commence in criminal court next Monday. A special venire of 50 names to form the jury was drawn Monday morning.
W. W. Thompson vice-president of the National Bowling Congress visited the city with Mayor Bookwalter to set details for the February national meeting in Indianapolis. Organizers increased alleys from eight to ten. Chicago will send 40 bowlers and delegations from St Louis St Paul Minneapolis and Milwaukee will attend. Brooklyn bowlers meet December 15 and New York City bowlers plan to visit Indianapolis December 18. Mayor Bookwalter and Mr Thompson will attend. About 3000 to 3500 bowlers are expected.

One package reportedly held $100,000 in negotiable stock to be sent to New York. another held £6,500 in notes. Inspector Stuart avoids a firm total but considers the loss could reach $1,000,000, though $200,000 in cash, securities and notes seems more likely.

Herman C Tuttle real estate and insurance man filed a Monday morning suit seeking divorce from Annie L Tuttle and custody of their 10 year old daughter Margaret. They married in 1885 and lived together until last Saturday. He cites her claimed statement she no longer loved him and told him to go, plus a violent temper that erupts without provocation and can be destructive.

The first annual report of the Alpha Home for aged colored women 1940 War winst. has been issued. Mrs Susie A Williams is president. The home aims to care for respectable nonabled colored women without relying on public support and was founded in 1586.
Streight Circle ladies announce the turkey dinner will be held Tuesday night at the Alabama and Washington aims location instead of Thursday. The change shifts the schedule for the community event and invites attendees to adjust their plans.

Mrs. Otto Stechhan of 513 East Eleventh Street was struck from behind on Saturday night near North New Jersey Street. She fully recovered from the blow and shouted for help, but could not describe the attacker’s appearance or identify his race after the attempt. Police were notified.

Multiple other homes and businesses, including Theodore Laswell’s blacksmith shop, J A Holt’s residence, John Cochrane’s home, Chas Gleckner’s grocery, and Hub clothing store show break ins. Burglary numbers 3 through 7 detail thefts of cash, clothing, and household goods, with one suspect still at large after entry through windows.
