Three City Firemen Die In Cleveland Car Barn Fire

In Cleveland Ohio on Monday morning November 16, three Hook and Ladder Company No 2 firemen Robert Duffey James Schweda and Kurt Reed were killed when a car barn fire destroyed the Holdemare car barns and contents. About 100 cars burned. Dead and injured were pulled from the debris as Chief Andrews narrowly escaped. The fire began at 245 am with strong west winds pushing the blaze into the brick structure and collapsing the front wall trapping five firefighters. Corrigan and Henry Vanvelde among the injured. Total loss estimated between 200000 and 259000.
