A man fired at King Leopold after a religious service for Queen Marie Henriette. The monarch was unharmed. the would be assassin was arrested. Observers noted the gunman fired as the king exited the cathedral, sparking belief that the cartridges may have contained no bullets.
An Italian immigrant, Gennaro Rubino, in a half-starved state, fired three shots at Leopold II’s carriage near a Brussels cathedral. None hit the king. bullets struck the grand marshal’s carriage instead. Rubino, detained by police, said despair over hunger drove the act and that he aimed for the king after seeing the gold-adorned crowd.
Fort Wayne dispatch reports a head on collision fatally injuring a freight engineer J C Pearson and severely injuring another engineer. Ninety three heads of cattle and horses were crushed in the wreck.
In East Stone Gap, Virginia, John Mullins of Letcher County faced four officers with shotguns after they demanded surrender. Mullins, armed with a rifle, ordered the officers to lay down their arms and retreat. He later offered the guns for sale at six dollars each, amid a history of allegedly killing three men.
Gen William Booth head of the Salvation Army arrives in Chicago from the east and is escorted to the press club for a brief address. He rests today then attends the soldiers council at Princess rink. He will speak at the University of Chicago Moody Institute and the Auditorium, before leaving for Minneapolis Friday.
New liner advertisements list diverse notices including a beautiful suburban home for sale, help wanted for housework and housekeeping, fortune telling, rental rooms, sale of lamps, poultry, brick blocks, cottages, cigar stand, factory and farm sales, rental houses, balloon fixtures, chimney cleaner, piano repair, a lost bag containing money, canvassing for holiday books, grocery team and wagon, and energetic woman wanted.
Robert V. Stephens, one of the victims of the C. H. and D. wreck, remains in critical condition at St. Vincent's hospital. He is severely burned and may not survive. Other injured victims at the hospital are reported improving.
F W Blocks and assistants from Chicago visited Indianapolis on a Saturday to evaluate creosoted wooden block pavements. Blocks noted Chicago’s prior reluctance due to cost, while Indianapolis residents funded pavement choices. Blocks cited asphalt prices and competition differences as a factor.
The Indiana College Association banquet at the Veni Son Friday night drew fewer attendees than hoped while prominent educators discussed the proposal to shorten the college course. James Riley Weaver of DePauw argued against shortening, noting early specialization can occur after the four-year program and citing Butter's influence from Columbia. Other educators shared similar reservations.

A posse tried to raid a Negro house, shots were fired wounding three whites, one Black man killed, and nine Negroes arrested near a planned rescue.
Twelve freight cars laden with lumber and grain derailed on the B. and O. line near Loogootee after an axle broke while traveling 25 miles an hour. Trainmen escaped unharmed. Edgar Perry and Fenton Jones of Huron, Ind., sustained serious injuries while riding in a lumber car.
Hampton West, an aged Hamplton county farmer, released on 2500 bond after grave disturbance charges. William Moffitt freed on 5000 bond by the same surety firm. West denied grave robbery links and said Cantrell followed him at cemeteries. Cantrell connection unclear. Meridith McMullen’s grave at Lick Creek cemetery opened and found empty. Locals plan mass meeting to fund prosecutions and resist soft handling of indicted doctors.
The grand jury is expected to issue a final report during the present session by mid next week. Some grave-robbing investigations will likely move to the December session. Thomas P. Rhoades, a restaurant keeper, was fined 10 dollars and costs for selling milk below standard after Saturday morning scrutiny. His case was appealed to criminal court where the affidavit was quashed as defective. More witnesses were subpoenaed for Monday in the Indianapolis coal exchange investigation.

Merritt Wood, a Greenfield teacher, walked into a French plate glass door at Boehmer Shoe Co. store 13 W Washington St. Saturday morning. The pane, valued at 125 dollars and insured, shattered. Wood suffered cuts to his head and hands but left the store with a friend after blood was washed away. He did not see the glass before impact.

He cites receipts and affidavits alleging vote purchases, argues fraud, notes district usually leans Republican yet he lost in all counties. Rogers resigned as consul in 46.2 tariff era prior to campaign.
A man described as Broad Ripple’s one arm corn shredder suffers a severe injury in a Broad Ripple incident. This marks the sixth accident of its kind in the neighborhood within days, highlighting ongoing danger in the area.
Mrs Mary A Forsinger of Sixteenth and Rural streets preserves a vial of honey claimed to be 62 years old. She asserts it holds medicinal properties for stone bruises sore throats and felons though the product appears reddish brown yet remains sweet to taste.
