Democratic chairmen forecast a sweeping victory with Marion County and state hopes high. Republican officials pledge a statewide win including ten GOP House seats and a 20 000 statewide margin. Socialist and Prohibition leaders anticipate ballot access gains and increased votes while planning observer roles.
The new telephone company will bury proposed wires along the north side of North Street west of Illinois Street and on Emmett Street outside the mile square. City officials say wires must be buried beyond the mile square and hope others extending in northern parts will follow this rule. President Me grow of the Board of Works calls it a good precedent urging burial of all such wires.
Chicago report says Charles Smith is jailed on a charge of blowing up the home of Joseph Kordeck while his family slept. The blast killed Joseph Kordeck’s daughter Lucy and injured his wife. seven children escaped serious harm. Smith, once a boarder and suitor to a daughter, denies the crime amid neighbors’ threats pattern claims.
The city plans a special automobile tax alongside the vehicle tax. The fee would fund large tags to identify speeding chauffeurs. The Board of Safety will propose an ordinance to regulate automobile speeds, replacing the current horse-drawn vehicle speed rules.

Little Herman Wiese, 1 year old son of William Wiese and wife of 47 North Keystone Avenue, died from burns after he fell into a dish-pan of boiling water while his mother washed clothes.
