Bragg Sets Fast Time at Indy Speed Contest

Bragg, a millionaire amateur driver, posted the best time in the first event at Indianapolis Speedway, nearly equaling the track record with a mile in 39 seconds. The 10,000-strong crowd included many women as Friday's races opened with a full schedule ahead.

Hope Fades For Pluviose Submarine Crew

Paris reports on May 27 that the submarine Pluviose cannot be raised and all 27 crewmen are presumed dead after collision with Pas de Calais. Divers battled currents overnight as crowds along Calais watched, hoping against hope for survivor signals. Businessmen discuss coming trade extension trip

Nearly 100 members of the Board of Trade assembled at noon to plan next week’s trade extension trip. W. J. Dobyns outlined the entertainment in host cities while Harold Hibben Jr announced appointees to oversee welfare. Hibben said 113 businessmen have reserved seats and three interurban cars will be chartered. Chas. A. Vawter Park and Lake Wawasee Hotel Destroyed by Fire

Fire leveled Vawter park and Lake Wawasee hotel in Wabash Indiana destroying a property owned by a syndicate. About twenty guests were registered as the blaze caused an estimated loss of 6000 with 4000 insured. The resort had long drawn Indian and Ohio vacationers.
