Chicago and Kentucky figure in a Civil War era spy tale tied to the Knights of the Golden Circle. Hazleton Pa May 26 The first shot since the coal strike began wounded Duncan Moorehead of Yorktown while at work in a washery. The wound is not serious. Marmaton River area in Nevada Mo May 25 reports flooding submerging 1,000 acres.
Miss Marguerite Bower of the Girls' classical school reportedly fell from a bed in her sleep causing a broken nose and a starved cheek. Doctors say she will not be permanently disfigured. Liners defeat the Blackstone Beauties at the Blaté grounds Sunday with anxious note from The Liners.
Harry Adams auctioned boxes and seats at English Opera House for the Harrison Monument fund during a Commercial Club luncheon. Bids began with $50 for a box, then rose on boxes and single seats as Col. Wilson sought a box for Gov. Durbin. Highest boxed bids reached $50 and $35 for various boxes, while Mrs Harrison attracted a $10 bid for a seat. Final box prices and seat bids were recorded, with bids closing Monday at 6 p.m. at the Commercial Club.
Miss Ida Mankin and Edward Bush of Salem Ind married in Louisville on April 26. The ceremony occurred to protect her school supply business from patrons and trustees. The couple planned housekeeping in Salem and return to Indianapolis business affairs, with sister taking charge of the enterprise.
