Abraham Berwanger of Cincinnati, father of Rose Stout, identified her body in Indianapolis after viewing a newspaper photo. The murdered woman had disappeared two years earlier and was married to Fred Spoor. Berwanger declined to recognize the marriage, had the burial in her maiden name, and the body was sent to Cincinnati in a plain pine box for Jewish funeral rites.

An Indianapolis man facing murder charges was indicted in Peoria Illinois as the principal in the death of Etta Binkley. The defendant, a stenographer’s boss, allegedly planned the crime with accomplices and has been jailed since his arrest. Bail has not been allowed.
