Friends of Gov. Matthews view Marion county sound money Democrats as opposing the governor’s presidential aims. Early Monday witnesses at the corner of Illinois and Washington streets saw a large section of trolley wire burn with green blue and red flashes. The burning wire fell to the street and on striking the rails exploded with a cannon like noise scattering flames. Street cars were delayed for several hours.
