Fugitives recaptured after Toledo workhouse escape
An exciting manhunt followed an assault on a guard and the escape of 13 prisoners from the Toledo workhouse. Ten were recaptured in three locations Airline Junction Sylvania and Wauseon with two remaining at large after the pursuit.

Auto Crash In Muncie Ends With Injuries And Arrest
A high speed auto excursion ends in a crash at the Washington street crossing with Union railway cars. Elmer J. Five injured as freight train crashes into passenger train
LITCHFIELD May 23 five per gangs were slightly injured when Wabash passenger train No 51 collided with a freight train on a siding near Mt Olive. The accident was caused by a darkman's trainman failing to close the switch.

Amelia Staffeld, a 13 year old girl, was found strangled in a field near her Elmhurst, Long Island home after an assault. Police doubt a single suspect and search for the killer, aided by witnesses who saw a man flee and locals who suggest two Italians washing stained hands. Two Die in Fire at Metropolitan Hotel Utica
A cigarette lighter tossed into the Metropolitan hotel cellar through the elevator shaft started a blaze in Utica on May 2, saving 50 guests who slid down ropes or were rescued by firemen. The victims were Annie Sullivan 40 a chambermaid and George A. James from Clinton a hotel guest. Several survivors remain in critical condition from burns or suffocation in local hospitals.

Governor Hanly Returns to Work After Health Restorative Trip

Edwin P McIntyre was fined one dollar for carrying a concealed weapon while guarding Pope Motor Works during the March machinists strike.
