Country fair at Washington observatory grounds draws crowds
A lively midway scene unfolds at the Junior republic event near the old observatory, featuring a country store booth, ice cream path, moving pictures, a gypsy campment, flower girls, and a wild man of Borneo act. Miss Mary Elisabeth Sherman and Miss Van Reypen entertain as booths, games, and parade-like exhibits captivate spectators.
