Notes on Baseball Struggles and Weekday Games
Frank Devine emerges as a promising pitcher for the Hoosiers in the current series against the Phillies. Boyle shines on the mound with strong support, while Seery and Bassett display sharp fielding. In association play, Cincinnati tops Louisville 3 to 7 and Brooklyn clobbers Cleveland 12 to 1. Wright and Tr Win praise Indiana as a strong team, though Myers struggles to hit. The Boston Chicago split features a 20 to 5 rout by Boston followed by Chicago's 2 0 win, as crowds react to near-misses and fouled throws. Indianapolis hopes to improve on last season, with Glasscock making an error that leads to Philadelphia’s first run. Dunker City had only one loss to the Hoosiers last year. League action sees Pittsburgh beat New York 6 to 1, Detroit beat Washington 2 to 0 after a ninth-inning rally, and Chicago defeat Boston despite Boston’s strong hitting and errors.
