John J. Palmer, 75, a well known Indianapolis citizen, died or near death at his home 401 N Pennsylvania St after a long illness. A Civil War veteran of the Seventeenth Indiana, he served under Col Owen and Generals Grant Sherman and Sully. He later worked as a contractor, lived in Helena Mont and Chicago before returning to Indianapolis.
