In a neighborhood bonfire, George Bigelow, 83, suffered fatal burns after his clothes ignited while watching neighborhood youths. Despite delayed aid, he died Tuesday morning after two days of severe suffering from scorched skin and inhaled flames.

Fort Wayne May 15 Edward Johnson of Antwerp Ohio was arrested here on a rape charge. He abducted Nellie Roemer an 18 year old girl from Antwerp took her for a ride in the woods tore her dress and bruised her face and arms. She fought back and scratched his eyes. His nose and cheeks bore marks from her fingernails. He is reticent. Benton charges Geo E Garrett of St Louis with violating postal laws. Garrett allegedly mailed scurrilous letters about Benton after his Creedon engagement failed. The assassin is still at large. Jersey City May 15 the Rome girl shot by her sweetheart named Ruppis improving. No trace of Bernhardt Altenberger the alleged assassin. He was engaged to Christine Vetter of Elizabeth N J. They came from Germany. He died in Texas May 15 James Parkin son Taylor lord high sheriff of London died in San Antonio of brain paralysis while en route to California. Lieut Ortimer Fry with him. Drowned while sailing Lieut Dimmick of the revenue cutter Grant at Friday Harbor paralyzed. Privates Henderson Weldhick Rosenquest and Ross drowned.
