Thomas Blue aged 24 and Wallace Croomes 22, both colored, were struck at the South Street crossing at 8:45 a.m. Blue died of massive injuries while Croomes, badly hurt, is in City Hospital with a broken leg. Croomes says Blue may have been pushed from the baggage car as they sought the early Pennsylvania mail train to Louisville.
