A.J. Kinnan, a Vandalia car inspector, was killed near the transfer five miles west of the city when a switch engine struck his car as he tried to bury a dog beneath an empty car. He leaves a widow and six children. Bart Werrick, 15, is fatally injured after falling from an outbound freight train on the Monon tracks near the Johust crossing. He was a son of former Patrolman Werrick. John Griffith, head waiter at Circle Park Hotel, fell 30 feet into the cellar after opening an elevator door and escaping with serious bruises. He is in City hospital.
