A late Wednesday fire wiped out the C B Cones Son & Co factory opposite the state house on WN Senate Ave. Losses near 150000. Insurer will not cover the toss. Most machinery, chiefly sewing machines, ruined. Gas explosion started the fire in the tin shop area injuring no one fatally, but forcing mass evacuations. Firefighters contained blaze after hours, sparing nearby Smith’s tin shop. The plant plans to resume at a new site with Singer partnership. the old S Meridian St location burned in 1883.
