Gen Benjamin Harrison dies at 4 45 P M after a day of declining strength. Mrs Harrison consents to viewing in the capitol Saturday as military guards stand watch. The body is embalmed and will lie in state. funeral arrangements will follow with interest from officials and distant dignitaries.
Gen Harrison will be buried in Crown Hill cemetery in the Harrison lot. The plot lies in a desirable section and includes the general’s former wife’s grave marked by a handsome stone nearby.
Mrs Harrison arose refreshed on Thursday morning after nearly 45 hours without sleep. The household marveled at her endurance as Mr and Mrs McKee were expected to arrive at noon.
Little Elizabeth Harrison is the four year old daughter of General Harrison from his second marriage. She was born on the last Sunday of April 1897 and named in honor of her grandmothers, both named Elizabeth.
