New York March 12. Edward L. Maxwell, a Pittsburg iron manufacturer worth several millions, was found intoxicated on a street Monday night and brought to a police station. In police court Tuesday morning he was fined and described how he had been drugged and robbed of diamonds in the Tenderloin district.
Private Havana reports state that leaders of the 1884 separation war who joined the current Cuban uprising are conferring with Capt gen Calleja to consider ending hostilities and surrendering rebel arms.
Dr Parkhurst appeared before the grand jury at noon Tuesday and remained for some time. It is believed he gave evidence touching on alleged police irregularities in dealing with gamblers.

Franklin Taylor died Monday afternoon at his home 1140 West Washington Street Indianapolis aged 37? years. He helped found Chandler and Taylor on West Washington Street in 1884, later employing 150 men at the factory. Born in 1814 in Chester County Pennsylvania, he pursued civil engineering then merchandising before serving in the Tenth Pennsylvania and Thirtieth regiments during the Civil War. He married in 1884 and leaving a widow and two children.
Dr Martin from the city dispensary was summoned to 24 N West St late Monday night to save 85 year old Minnie Balls who took morphine with angel intent. Minnie expressed being tired of life due to hardship with roommate Mary Kurtz, but the stomach pump saved her and she remains alive.
