After the house adjourned, Speaker Artman and Statesman argued when Artman found his desk bare. Statesman demanded his books and papers be returned, calling the speaker uncourteous like a Berkshire pig as the exchange ended without further comment.
The scene inside the senate shows busy lobby activity as lobbyists lean over the railing to press lawmakers. Senator Inman endures whispered requests about bills and a desire to alert Senator Agnew, prompting his exasperated outburst.

Kirk was arrested near Baltimore and confessed. a Negro resident delegation pleaded against mob violence as authorities pledge protection.
A mob broke into Carthage jail in North Carolina and hanged 26 year old James Martindale from a tree limb after shooting him multiple times. He is said to have assaulted Mrs Brown and earlier attacked his wife’s sister.
A sobbing eight year old Willie Perkins, living near Eddy Street, was picked up at midnight and placed in Matron Feisner's care. Officer Joyce reports his father and grandmother can support him but he is not sent to a home. Three babies left by Annie Kahler, aged under five, remain with Mr. Case as authorities seek placements with the Board of Children's Guardians.
Captain Jeremiah Kinney of the detectives, already ill for weeks with rheumatic fever, has grown much worse as the infection settles around the heart. Doctors warn the disease may prove fatal if it cannot be driven from the heart muscles, following a January attack and a fall that broke his wrist. A nurse feeds him as the illness also affected his jaw muscles.
