J S Harriman, a former six day walker, will begin a 6000 mile trek from Endiguapolis toward California and back to reach 3000 miles. Training at Wabash, he aims 450 miles daily to finish in 66 days, with an athletic exhibition the night before start. At 2 oclock Friday morning a handsome new block at the corner of Meridian and South streets owned by Albert Hilz alberger was partly wrecked by fire caused by a defective furnace on the third floor. Robert G. Harseim, a wholesale clothing manufacturer, occupied the building with $50,000 of goods. Losses run about 25,000 insured in a dozen companies. The building loss is about 5,000. Hilzalberger is insured for 8,000. Harseim plans to restart his factory in a week or ten days and employs 250 workers, with orders behind. He recently shipped a chip load of clothing to Central America. He credited the fire department with doing all possible and did not blame the department for the delay.
